“Staying here gave me a real Beijing neighbourhood experience, not a chain hotel. I loved seeing locals walk their dogs in the evening. The rooms are few and small, but immaculate. The courtyard was lovely, though too hot to use during my stay. Staff were extremely polite and helpful. Everything worked well, from the air conditioning to the Wi-Fi. It's about a 10-minute walk to the metro, and restaurants nearby don't have English menus, so be ready to point.”

8.2Verified guest

“Good location – quiet yet close to many restaurants. The Lingjing subway stop is a few minutes' walk, and it's near the Xidan airport shuttle stop. Rooms had air conditioning and the staff were friendly. Bathrooms are not new, but private with good showers and plenty of hot water. Continental breakfast was fine – toast, yogurt, fruit. Espresso was available, but tea cost 5 yuan, which seemed odd.”

8.2Verified guest

“We loved almost everything. We felt welcome immediately – the ladies are incredibly kind. This is a real oasis in a hutong. Compared to the neighbourhood, it feels luxurious. Don't expect a Western hotel; it's more like a family home where everyone helps with great warmth. Our three nights here were the best of two weeks in China. Great place, great people.”

8.2Verified guest

“Nice stay. Rooms are clean and cosy, the staff speak good English and are eager to help. The courtyard makes it easy to meet other guests – there's a little yard to relax in. It's a bit tricky to find the first time, but the map helps. Only a 7-minute walk from Xisi station on Line 4. Thank you to the girls – we really enjoyed our 14 nights and will recommend it.”

8.2Verified guest

“Charming hotel in a hutong. Nice staff. Small room but very clean and comfortable.”

8.2Verified guest

“Very helpful and friendly staff, great atmosphere, nice room (a bit small), low price, just 3 minutes from the subway.”

04 — Location

Getting around Beijing

The property sits in Beijing.

Getting around: Xisi metro station (Line 4) is about a 7-minute walk, and the Lingjing subway stop is just a few minutes away. The airport shuttle has a stop at Xidan, also close by.

Nearby dining: The hutong is surrounded by local restaurants, small shops and a KFC. Menus are mostly in Chinese, so pointing works – or ask the friendly staff for help.

Sightseeing: Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square are not within walking distance, but the metro connects easily. Prince Gong Mansion is a 25-minute stroll away.
